About UsThe volume EM community is an international initiative with the intent to bring together everyone interested in volume electron microscopy techniques. We are in the very early stages of setting this community up and are looking for volunteers willing to actively participate in our working groups.

Volume EM working groups
Community WG (International)Remit: This international community working group aims to support all those practically involved in vEM techniques, across sample preparation, ancillary techniques e.g. x-ray, CLEM, and includes microscopists and data scientists.
Co-Chairs: Chris Peddie & Jemima Burden Training (International)Remit: To provide resources and training on both the technical skills and managerial skills relating to all aspects of vEM.
Co-Chairs: Errin Johnson & Raffa Carzaniga Sample Preparation (International)Remit: Curation of sample preparation resources for the vEM community, including a protocol library that encompasses preparation steps through to imaging, with a focus on discussion and dissemination of knowledge around why each step is done, health and safety information, and annotations to indicate options and when they might be useful.
Co-Chairs: Carles Bosch Piñol & Michele Darrow |
Outreach WG (International)Remit: We aim to perform outreach to the wider international biomedical science community in the form of:
1) Education about the various vEM techniques. 2) Engagement of stakeholders including end users, engineers, software developers, funders and the public. Co-Chairs: Anwen Bullen & Georgina Fletcher Data (International)Remit:
1) Storage, transfer, metadata, analysis tools, archiving. 2) Long-term scope and short-term actions to be discussed. Co-Chairs: Martyn Winn & Kedar Narayan Infrastructure (UK Focused)Remit: Define, seek funding for, build and run a coordinated accessible infrastructure for vEM to meet the needs of the UK bioscience research community.
